How is Gratuity Calculated in UAE? (2026/2025 Rules)
The calculation depends on your total length of service (tenure). The law mandates using your Basic Salary only (excluding housing/transport allowances).

No gratuity is payable.
1 to 5 Years
21 days of basic salary for each year.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is unpaid leave included in gratuity calculation?
No. Article 51 of the UAE Labour Law states that any days of absence from work without pay shall not be included in the calculation of the period of service.
Do I get gratuity on full salary or basic salary?
Gratuity is strictly calculated on the Basic Salary. Allowances for housing, transport, utilities, furniture, etc., are excluded.
